We are looking for vinyl!

The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop is always adding to our collection. Do you have piles of vinyl records at your house? We're seeking and accepting donations of gently used vinyl for our ever-expanding selection of records. We are especially interested in classic rock, and we can't seem to keep Fleetwood Mac on the shelves!

We accept donations at the side door Monday through Wednesday from 8 to 4; Thursday through Saturday, 8 to 10; and Sunday, 10 to 4.

New Donation Hours & New Sunday Hours

We are excited to offer expanded donation hours! Thank you to our incredible community of book lovers - we appreciate your donations and love getting your books back into the hands of other readers.

We are also now open from 10 to 4 on Sunday.

Donations are received at the side door + donors are asked not to leave books outside, as only a short time in cold or damp weather can damage books. Also, those who come after 10 on Sunday through Wednesday are asked to stop at the front desk before leaving books to inform a volunteer of the donation.

We're Extending Our Sunday Hours

From now through Sunday, December 19, we will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Normally, the shop is open on Sundays only during the summer. But, as Rosie Bensen, shop co-manager, explained, “Thanks to some wonderful volunteers who like to work on Sundays, we’ve been able to extend our summer Sundays through the fall, and now we can extend the hours, too.”

She also noted that shop volunteers had assembled a wide selection of holiday books, both fiction and non-fiction, for adults and children, as well as CDs and movies.

Join us for THE NOT SO EARLY BIRD SALE!

We are excited to participate in the NOT SO EARLY BIRD SALE, Saturday, November 6, from 9:00 - 5:00.

We will be offering 20 percent off all regular items in the store except for gift certificates.

Items on sale include dozens of categories of hardcover and paperback books for adults and children, as well as puzzles, DVDs, CDs, and videotapes.

Also available that day will be Skidompha T-shirts, mugs, and bumper stickers; these items will not be on sale.

We love participating in this event to support local businesses and downtown Damariscotta.

Come in to see "The Orange Collection"

“The Orange Collection” is an assortment of books assembled by members of a team of volunteers from Mobius who offer their service at the shop every Wednesday. Rem Briggs, co-manager of the shop, said, “It’s hard to overemphasize how helpful these volunteers are.”

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out this display. You’ll find it near the front of the store. It’s fun to see books grouped by color rather than genre or theme. Let us know if you find something good to take home!

For Now, Please Bring Your Mask When You Come Visit Us

The CDC has raised the level of transmission in Lincoln County to the substantial transmission category. Based on the CDC recommendations, we again require masks inside the Book Shop, regardless of vaccination status, for the safety of our volunteers and our customers.

Thank you so much for your patience and support during this time. We appreciate you and love seeing you inside the shop. We will continue to share updates as things change.

We're Accepting Donations All Day on Mondays!

If you have books, CDs, vinyl records, DVDS, music, and puzzles you are looking to part with, we are extending our donation hours to help! We now accept donations every Monday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Volunteers continue to accept donations Monday through Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the side door. After 10 a.m. on Mondays, donors are asked to see a volunteer at the front desk inside the main entrance to chat about leaving their items.

Our collection changes often thanks to the incredible donations we receive from our community. We hope you’ll stop by sometime soon to check it out.
