The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop, in its spacious location overlooking Maine’s Damariscotta River, offers more than 22,000 books in dozens of categories, as well as music CDs, movies on DVD and videotape, audiobooks, and puzzles.
All items are donated by members of the community, all staff members of the shop are volunteers, and all proceeds directly support the programs of Skidompha Library.
So when you shop at, or donate items to, the Skidompha Book Shop, you know that you are supporting the library’s collection as well as its many programs in the arts, science, culture, and education, for residents and visitors of the Midcoast.
At the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop, which was founded in 1968, you will find fiction and non-fiction hardbacks and paperbacks for adults and children, books about Maine and New England, matched sets of beautiful old books, first editions, rare books, books for mystery fans, cookers, quilters, artists, gardeners, and much, much more.
We are grateful for donated items, which can be left at the shop or the library whenever they are open. We ask that you do not leave donated books outside the shop; a few minutes to exposed weather can badly damage the books.
